James Edward Jenkins, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 4, 1925, at Burfordville, son of Archie and Elizabeth Brown Jenkins.
Jenkins was a graduate of College High School in Cape Girardeau.
He was a manager with Southwestern Bell, from which he retired in 1981. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Eagles Aerie 3775 of Cape Girardeau and Golden Troopers Drum and Bugle Corp, sponsored by the American Legion Post in Cape Girardeau.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of American Legion Post 63 in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include five sons, Mark Jenkins of Kelso, Jeff, Matt and Robert Jenkins, all of Cape Girardeau, and Paul Jenkins of Millersville; a daughter, Karen Hobbs of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Tilda Hobeck of Daisy and Nora Curry of Chula Vista, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Cy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
