BLOOMFIELD -- James D. Evans, 69, of Bloomfield died Saturday, April 29, 2000, at his home.

He was born July 30, 1930, at the Fairview community near Puxico, son of William Lawrence and Velma May Jackson Evans. He and Betty Lou Lee were married Nov. 6, 1946.

Evans was employed by Elder Manufacturing Co. for 30 years, serving the last 10 as plant manager. He was a member of the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Phyllis Gillespie of Nashville, Tenn., and Kim Lingle of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, William Evans Jr. of Bloomfield and Kenneth Evans of Houston, Texas; a sister, Carros Worley of St. Charles; and four grandchildren.

Friends may call at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield from 6-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Phil Warren officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
