James Curran

James William Curran, 69, of Scott City died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at Jackson Manor in Jackson.

He was born July 10, 1923, in St. Louis, son of Francis and Matilda Dempsey Curran.

Curran was a steelworker. He moved to Scott City 14 years ago from North Dakota. He was a member and past commander of VFW Post 6407 in Scott City.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include two sons, Tim Johnston of Scott City, Robert Curran of Wahpeton, N.D.; two daughters, Vickie Williams of Scott City, Shanna Steves of Breckenridge, Minn.; a brother, Robert Curran of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sisters, Donna Harmon of Sullivan, Mo., Margaret Remter of Norfolk, Neb.; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a grandchild.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. James Guerrero officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery.
