James Clyde Mingee Jr., 66, of Natchez, Miss., formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Monday, Sept. 16, 1991, at Methodist Medical Center in Jackson, Miss.
He was born Nov. 1, 1924, in Natchez, son of James Clyde and Florence T. Mingee Sr. He and Annette Gunning were married in 1942 in Natchez.
Mingee began his railroad career in 1945 as a cashier, and in 1956 he was named vice president of the Natchez and Southern Railroad (subsidiary of Missouri Pacific Lines) and general agent for Missouri Pacific.
He was transferred to Cape Girardeau in June 1966, and worked here until retiring in 1976. Mingee was a member of Knights of Columbus and American Legion, and former member of Rotary Clubs in Natchez and Cape Girardeau. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, James Mingee III of Jackson, Miss.; two daughters, Virginia Dennis of Houma, La., Marcia Jackson of Smithdale, Miss.; three brothers, Robert, Wayne and Charles Mingee of Natchez; a sister, Sue Thomas of Huntsville, Texas, and eight grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Natchez City Cemetery, with the Revs. John Brock and Brent Danielson officiating.
Friends may call at Laird's Funeral Home in Natchez from 6-8 tonight.
