James A. Bauerle, 82, a native of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at his home.
He was born Feb. 26, 1928, to Edward James and Alice Schwepker Bauerle. He married Barbara Louise Pusateri on March 8, 1952. She preceded him in death on May 12, 1996. He later married Marge Loiseau-Bauerle.
After graduation from Central High School, he graduated from St. Louis University in 1950 and was in the U.S. Army from November 1950 to August 1952.
He served 13 months in Korea and received the Bronze Star Medal. After his discharge he worked for Superior Electric Products Corp. for 32 years, 16 as the corporation's president. During this time he was first vice president of the board of directors of Associated Industries of Missouri, an organization of more than 1,000 major employers throughout the state of Missouri who were committed to growth and development of the state's business community.
After his retirement from Superior Electric he worked for Blair Industries, Inc. as executive vice president, retiring in 1988.
James was also a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Noon Lions Club, American Legion and was the former president of the Cape Girardeau Country Club.
He is survived by his wife; two sisters, Mary Cooper of Pulaski, Tenn., and Judith Maupin (Tim) of Overland Park, Kan.; two sons, Frank Bauerle of Canyon Country, Calif., and Edward Bauerle of Dublin, Texas; two nieces, Susan Maupin of Boston and Jacquie Maupin of Arlington, Va.; three nephews, Kevin Cooper (Angie) of Blountville, Tenn., Clark Cooper (Patty) of Danbridge, Tenn., and Michael Maupin (Susan) of Atlanta; and two granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers.
A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ Episcopal Church.
