BUNCOMBE, Ill. -- James Roscoe Barringer, 85, of Buncombe, Ill., died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1997, at City Care Center in Cobden, Ill.
He was born March 28, 1911 in Buncombe son of the late James and Mary Alice Jenkins Barringer. He married Vesta Sitter on Aug. 29, 1947, in Buncombe and she preceded him in death on Aug. 12, 1984.
He was a farmer in Johnson County, a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and of the Johnson County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by one son, James Barringer, of Buncombe; one brother, George Barringer, of Buncombe; two sisters, Mary Russel, of Saratoga, and Juanita Schwarm, of St. Elmo, Ill.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, Ill. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Verlee Eaker officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery near Lick Creek.
