CHAFFEE -- James Adam Chronister, 87, of Chaffee, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1992, at Chaffee Nursing Center.
He was born March 7, 1904, at Morehouse, son of Levi and Dora Bridges Chronister. He and Tennyemae Highfill were married Sept. 17, 1922. She died Sept. 3, 1986. He later married Ila Walker Oct. 17, 1987.
Chronister was a retired chief dispatcher with Frisco Railroad Co. He was also a retired housing project manager here with Lockwood Equities of St. Louis.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Methodist Men's Club, and was past chairman of the board of trustees.
Chronister was a member of Chaffee Masonic Lodge 615, serving as master two years, and member of Eastern Star Chapter 48 of which he was worthy patron seven years.
He was also a member of Scottish Rite Consistory, Cape Girardeau Shrine Club, Chaffee Rotary Club, and was a 32nd Degree Mason.
Survivors include his wife, and a brother, Leamon Chronister of Chaffee.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. The Rev. Maurice Eagan will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3:30 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30.
