Marvin Ray "Jake" Maevers, 73, of Quartz Hill, Calif., died peacefully at his home Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, following a brief battle with multiple myeloma.
He was born May 18, 1939, in Cape Girardeau, to Earl and Verna Maevers.
Jake married Patsy Ruth Rushing of Chaffee, Mo., July 3, 1959. Together, Jake and Pat raised three children, Kevin, Kimberly, and Kenton. In 1961 Jake moved to California where he made his home more than 50 years.
He and Bobbie Edwards of Lancaster, Calif., were married Oct. 13, 2002. They enjoyed nearly 10 years of married life together.
Jake is survived by his wife, Bobbie; his children, Kevin (Tamara), Kimberly, and Kent (Donna); six stepchildren; 14 grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; a brother, Kenneth "Butch" Maevers (Kay) of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Lois Maevers of Kansas City, Mo.; and his first wife, Pat Maevers.
A public memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Joshua Memorial Park, 808 E. Lancaster Blvd., Lancaster, Calif., 93535.
