Jackie "Jack" Glenn Swift, 78, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, at Monticello House.

He was born Jan. 31, 1940, in Sedalia, Missouri, to the late Glenn and Lucille Bennett Swift. Jackie and Phyllis Swift were married May 26, 1978, in Cape Girardeau. She preceded him in death.

Jackie served in the U.S. Navy for 26 years, having spent 13 years active and 13 years in the Naval Reserves. He worked in the gas department for Ameren for 20 years.

Jackie was a member and usher at Red Star Baptist Church, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, as well as the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 702.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his five children, Shawn (Juanita) Swift, Brian (Tressa) Swift, Philip and Melanie Swift and Allen Exel; two brothers, James and John Swift; two half sisters, Pam and Sherry Swift; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a brother, Donald Swift.

Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Pastor Mike Perry officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
