CAIRO, Ill. -- Jack "Wildcat" Pomeroy, 71, of Cairo died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 4, 1925, in Cairo, son of Charles and Agatha Wallace Pomeroy. He was the purchasing agent for the Cairo Public Utility Commission for the last 53 years.
He was of the Baptist faith and was past president of the Cairo Jaycees. He also was a member of the Cairo Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by his brother, George Pomeroy of Cairo; nieces, Kayla and Siera Pomeroy, both of Cairo; nephews, Blayne Pomeroy of Cairo and Brandon Justes of Tracy, Calif.; his special friend, Pansy Snowden of Jackson; and other relatives.
Visitation is at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo, where friends may call after 5 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Herman Painter Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Beechwood Cemetery in Mounds, Ill.
