Jack Lee Sanderson Sr., 72, of Burfordville, Mo., died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 1, 1932, in Carthage, Mo., son of Harry L. and Wilma E. Payne Sanderson.
A Korean War veteran, he was inducted into the U.S. Army Nov. 11,1952, and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant Nov. 11, 1954.
He had worked as a commercial electrician with IBEW Local No. 1 since 1949. He lived in St. Louis until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the Jackson Elks Lodge 2652 and Athenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; six children, John L., Tom L., and Jack L. Sanderson Jr., Sandra L. Lee, Sharon L. Young, all of St. Louis; and Nikki L. Lawrence of Jackson; a stepson, David J. James of St. Louis; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral will begin at 7 p.m. with services by the Jackson Elks, immediately followed by an American Legion Honor Guard Service. The service will conclude with military honors presented by the Delta Team of Cape Girardeau.
