Clinton H. "Jack" Parsons, the youngest son of Joseph W. and Matilda Sanders Parsons, was born near Herrin, Ill., Feb. 19, 1910, and passed away June 19, 2002, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo.
A 75-year resident of Stoddard County, he is survived by three children, C.H. Parsons Jr., Lydia E. Temples, Lurlyn Jo Daniel; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews; and a host of friends.
He was united in marriage Feb. 11, 1931, to Evelyn Barham Parsons, who predeceased him June 29, 1990. His parents and 13 brothers and sisters also predeceased him.
Jack was a charter member of the Dexter Lions Club, having served as president and secretary for over 20 years. He was a past president of Dexter Chamber of Commerce. He was a 57-year member of Kenady Hanks Post of the American Legion and a member of Dexter Elks Lodge 2439.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
After the Navy, Jack was an active businessman in the electrical construction business throughout Southeast Missouri. He was very active in the civic and political affairs of Dexter and Stoddard County and was an avid supporter of the Lions Eye Tissue Bank.
Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 to 8 p.m. today, June 21.
Graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, at Dexter Cemetery, with the Rev. Vaughn Wright officiating.
