SIKESTON, Mo. -- Jack D. Mitchell, 75, of Sikeston died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 24, 1925, in Scott County, Mo., son of Liston and Iva Hutchason Mitchell. He and Mary I. Stucker were married on Dec. 24, 1948, in Osceola, Ark.
Mitchell was self-employed in the plumbing, heating and air-conditioning business. He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a lifelong resident of Sikeston and a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jack Mitchell Jr. of Ridgeland, Miss.; three daughters, Brenda Adkins of St. Louis, and Lisa Mitchell and Cindy Powell of Sikeston; three brothers, Liston Mitchell of Chaffee, Mo., James Mitchell of San Jose, Calif., and Joseph Mitchell of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Betty Yant of Sikeston and Janet Mitchell of St. Louis; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Steve Vester officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories.
