OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Jack L. "Bullet" Butcher Sr., 66, of Olive Branch went to be with the Lord at 7:35 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, surrounded by his family.
He was born April 20, 1950, in Cairo, Illinois, son of the late Johnny Butcher Sr. and Elsie Tapley McKee.
Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a very gifted person. He made his own fishing lures and arrows and reloaded ammunition. He owned his own business at one time. There really wasn't anything he couldn't do when he set his mind to it.
Jack retired from the Alexander County Highway Department after 27 years of service. He was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Jack is survived by a daughter, Shelby (Jay) Dunn of Olive Branch; a son, Jack Lee (Taunya) Butcher Jr. of Thebes, Illinois; a sister, Teresa (Kenny) Stiff of Olive Branch; a brother, John M. (Carolyn) Butcher Jr. of Tamms, Illinois; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Jeremy Webb.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms.
The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Jimmy Monahan. Private interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes.
