CHARLESTON -- Jack Allen, 71, of Charleston died Sunday, Sept. 7, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 25, 1925, in Somerville, Tenn., son of Charlie and Emma Perry Allen.

Allen had lived in Missouri more than 57 years, and was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Reviue; nine daughters, Virginia Whitfield of Columbia, Charlene Allen and Priscilla Lee of Charleston, Rose Webb of Sikeston, Aline Allen of Oran, Delores Sierra with the U.S. Army in Germany, Emma Lowe of Cape Girardeau, Jean Woodring of Cairo, Ill., Ruthie Smith of Chicago; eight sons, Arthur, Cornie, and Willie Allen of Sikeston, Robert Allen of Gary, Ind., Larry and Bobby Allen of Charleston, Tommy Allen of Pensacola, Fla., and Danny Allen with the U.S. Navy in Corpus Christie, Texas.

He is also survived by six sisters, Savannah Simmons and Gloria Allen of Memphis, Tenn., Lenora Jarmon of St. Louis, Elizabeth Miller of Omaha, Neb., Lena Brooks of Carbondale, Ill., Abadona Jackson of Paducah, Ky.; six brothers, James Allen of Jacksonville, Fla., McArthur and Ray Allen of Carbondale, Alisha Allen of Metropolis, Ill., Charles Allen of Union City, Tenn., Curtis Bond of Mansfield, Ohio; 49 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers, and three grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew's Church, with the Rev. Wiley Reed officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until service time.

Sparks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
