Jacalyn Mae Mueller, 72, of Jackson passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born May 21, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, she was the cherished daughter of Robert E. Edwards and Betty J. Cutright. On July 22, 1967, Jacalyn married the love of her life, Delbert R. Mueller, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter and unwavering faith.
Jacalyn touched the lives of many through her dedication and service in various capacities. She worked as a cook at Alma Schrader School as well as Cape Girardeau Senior Center.
Her compassionate spirit extended to volunteering at Saint Francis Medical Center in the Stephen Ministries and as a hospice volunteer at Visiting Nurse Association, where she provided comfort and support to those in need. As a devoted member and pastor's wife of The Church of Jesus Christ in Jackson, Jacalyn found solace in her faith, having been saved and filled with the Holy Ghost in 1975.
Jacalyn faced the challenges of multiple myeloma cancer for 7 1/2 years with incredible strength, relying on the daily inspiration drawn from her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. She found solace and courage in her beliefs, which sustained her throughout her battle.
Jacalyn is survived by her loving sons, William Joseph Mueller and James Roy Mueller, and daughter, Cindy (Albert) Sadler of Jackson. She leaves behind three grandchildren, Timothy (Steph) Sadler, Steven (Bridgett) Sadler and Rachel (Brian) Koerner; a sister, Robin (Randy) Overkamp; and a brother, David Edwards. Also mourning her loss are three brothers-in-law, Marty (Dess) Mueller, David (Chris) Mueller and Charles Retherford; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Kissiar; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her father, Robert E. Edwards; grandparents, Hazel and Bob Kauffman; brother, Robert (Butch) Edwards; grandson, Aaron Lee Sadler; mother- and father-in-law, Erna and Elroy Mueller; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Retherford and Marilyn Dodd; and two brothers-in-law, Larry Kissiar and Ed Dodd. Other family members include Ernest Cutright, Roy and Shirley Cutright and nephews, Roy Lee and Doyle Cutright.
Jesus Christ gave her strength daily.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at The Church of Jesus Christ in Jackson.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the church, with Jerry Stafford officiating. Burial will be at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorial contributions may be given to The Church of Jesus Christ.
