JACKSON -- J. Ed McDowell, 74, of Jackson, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1992, at his home.
He was born Feb. 11, 1918, at Fruitland, son of Eli and Effie Noland McDowell. He and Jean Anderson were married June 17, 1938, in Blytheville, Ark.
McDowell was employed by Pfiezer Genetic Co., and traveled in the Bootheel and in Southern Illinois, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Judy Bryant and Jaci Gohn of Jackson, Jan Nicholson of Lancaster, Texas; a brother, Harry McDowell of Jackson; two sisters, Mable Henderson of Jackson, Maxine Tacke of Springfield; 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Chapel. The Revs. Sam Roethemeyer and Rodney Travis will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
