Ivan Daniel LaGrand, 54 of Marquand, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021, at Saint Francis Medical Center. Ivan Daniel LaGrand, 54 of Marquand, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born July 8, 1967, in Cape Girardeau to the late Floyd and Virginia Hobbs LaGrand.

Ivan was a 1985 graduate of University High and a 1993 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, where he earned a bachelor of science degree.

He was a fire inspector, fire investigator, paramedic and captain with the Cape Girardeau Fire Department for the last 25 years. He also worked for Bollinger County, Missouri, as a reserve deputy and dispatcher for the sheriff's department. Ivan was former chief of the NBC Fire Protection District, was a paramedic for North Scott County, was a reserve police officer for Scott City and was an EMT instructor for the Cape Girardeau and Sikeston Career and Technology Center's.

Ivan had a passion to serve others and will be greatly missed by his family at the firehouse and everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his former spouse, Trisha LaGrand of Jackson; former stepdaughter, Taylor Myers of Jackson; former stepson, Nathan Myers of Fredericktown, Missouri; and his canines, Bo and Truckie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his godfather, Bob Bosse.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at LaCroix Church in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow at Hobbs Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Cape Girardeau Fire/Rescue Foundation Fund, Fire Station #1, 1 S. Sprigg Street, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, 63703.
