Ivan Johnson Jr.

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Ivan Leo Johnson Jr. "Johnny", 66, of Marble Hill was born Nov. 14, 1953, in Cape Girardeau, to Ivan Leo Johnson Sr. and Wilma "Sissy" Abernathy Johnson Dugger and departed this life Friday, Aug. 7, 2020, at Southeast Hospital.

Ivan married Beverly VanGennip on May 5, 1973, at St. Anthony Church in Glennon, Missouri. She preceded him in death Oct. 20, 2019. They were parents of five children, Josh (Libby) Johnson of Cape Girardeau, Emily (Packy) Johnson of Sedgewickville, Missouri, Katie (Travis) Blanton of Jackson, Luke (Lotte) Johnson of Glen Allen, Missouri, and Lauren (Boone) Gaines of Marble Hill; and 15 grandchildren.

Besides his children and grandchildren he is survived by two sisters, Debbie Long and Julia Chandler, both of Cape Girardeau.

He worked at the carpenter's local and then traveled with the IBEW No. 1114 as an electrician.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Catholic Church in Leopold, Missouri.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. David Coon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Hutchings Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be given in lieu of flowers to the Marble Hill Food Pantry.
