MARBLE HILL -- Iva Cole Lutes, 97, died Monday, Nov. 13, 1995, at her home.
She was born June 13, 1898, at Lutesville, daughter of William Colby and Lucinda Caroline Schrock Cole. She and Charles Lutes were married July 16, 1924. He preceded her in death March 22, 1964.
Lutes was a merchant and operated the Whiteway Store in Lutesville with her sister and later her nephew. She retired in 1991. She was a graduate of Normal College, now Southeast Missouri State University. She taught at May Greene School in Cape Girardeau and at the public school in Esther.
She was a member of the Lutesville United Methodist church in Marble Hill, the Rebecca Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge.
Survivors include a nephew, James M. Hartle of Marble Hill.
Friends may call at the Liley Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel. The Rev. Virgil Bunch will officiate, with burial in Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill.
