Isaac Driskell

Isaac H. Driskell, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at The Gardens of Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

He was born Oct. 28, 1921, at Perkins, Mo., son of Robert and Sophia Myers Driskell. He and Katie Elizabeth Mott Driskell were married June 4, 1947, at Arbor.

Isaac served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946, where he was involved in the North African Campaign and the invasion of Sicily.

He was a member of Gospel Assembly Church in Anna, Ill., and a lifetime member VFW Post 3838. He was employed by Don Thiele Concrete Finishing from 1956 to 1969. He then started his own company, Driskell Cement Finishing Co. in 1970, retiring in 1997.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry (Rebecca), and Dan (Gerry); two daughters, Frances (Gene) Farrow and Phyllis (Junior) Farrow, all of Cape Girardeau; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and a sister, Clara Gramlisch (Bill) of Delta.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, five sisters, a granddaughter and a grandson.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gaylen Holden officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors conducted by Missouri Honor Guard and VFW Post 3838.

Memorial contributions may be given to Teen Challenge International Mid-America.
