SCOTT CITY -- Irvin Wheeler, 92, of Scott City died Wednesday, May 19, 1999, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 8, 1906, at Quincy, son of Everett A. and Mamie Corbin Wheeler. He and LaJune Standiford were married Dec. 20, 1930.

Wheeler was superintendent of several schools in southwest Missouri, and was principal at Scott City High School from 1947-68.

He was a member of Illmo United Methodist Church, charter member of Kiwanis Club of Scott City, H.O. Grauel Masonic Lodge in Cape Girardeau, and served as secretary-treasurer of Southeast Missouri Secondary Principals Association.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Dennis Wheeler of Jackson; two daughters, Janice Gilbert of Cape Girardeau, Susie Kinder of Scott City; a half brother, Lewis Wheeler of Quincy; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 4-8 p.m. Friday.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jim Woeltje officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery.
