Irma Rae McGaugh, 98, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at the Chateau Girardeau Health Center. She was born Nov. 5, 1902, in Clarkton, Mo., daughter of William Carroll Henson and Bertie Belle Skaggs. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Lipps in 1971. Irma Rae McGaugh, 98, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at the Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

She was born Nov. 5, 1902, in Clarkton, Mo., daughter of William Carroll Henson and Bertie Belle Skaggs. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Lipps in 1971. She then married Richard McGaugh, who died in 1981.

McGaugh was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church and a lifetime resident of Scott City, Mo., and Cape Girardeau. She was a school teacher in Gideon, Mo., for a few years. She was also a member of the Rose Garden Club and a bridge player for 25 years. An excellent seamstress, McGaugh made smocks and dresses for family and friends.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Rae Carr of Manchester, Conn.; a stepdaughter, Shirley Zielinski of Nashville, Tenn.; two sisters, Marge Meystedt of Cape Girardeau and Billie Taylor of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Friends may call between 9-11 a.m. on Tuesday at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Clayton Smith officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
