Irma Evans

Irma Louise Evans, 67, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Aug. 13, 1940, in Gallup, N.M., daughter of Lewis and Edna Smith Crow. She was raised by stepfather L.C. Holley and Edna. She was married to Eugene Evans.

She graduated from Cape Vocational School; she was a licensed practical nurse at Southeast Missouri Hospital and did private nursing. She was a cook at Saint Francis Medical Center and Southeast Missouri State University. She retired as a LPN nurse with hospice and hospice nurse at the Veterans Home. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Cape Girardeau.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Jacqueline R. Evans of Cape Girardeau; four sons, Arnold E. Evans of Long Beach, Calif., Wayne H. Evans of Cape Girardeau, Ricky A. Evans of Jefferson City, Mo., David D. Evans of Bonne Terre, Mo.; two adopted sons, James F. Ford of Racine, Wis., Elliott Dugan of California; seven brothers, Lewis Holley of Tacoma, Wash., Celester and Donald Holley of Cape Girardeau, Roy Holley of Clarksville, Tenn., Eddie Holley of Atlanta, George Holley of Killeen, Texas, and Charles Holley of Bowie, Md.; three sisters, Wilma Jennings of Lebanon, Tenn., Lavera Hines McLemore of Dayton, Ohio, Linda Singleton of Hollywood, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Johnny Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
