NAPLES, Fla. -- Irene Van Bibber, 89, of Naples, Fla., died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 1995, at Moorings Park Health Center in Naples.
She was born Aug. 30, 1906, at Bloomfield, daughter of James Eldon and Murtha Nellie Harper Scism. She and Bremen Van Bibber were married Feb. 14, 1925, at St. Louis. He preceded her in death April 24, 1962.
Van Bibber was an educator in public schools in Missouri and Connecticut. She received a bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University and a master's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and also was a professor of foods and nutrition at Lindenwood College in St. Charles. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Naples.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Nell Young of Naples; two brothers, Harold Scism of Solana Beach, Calif., and James Scism of Modesta, Calif.; a sister, Evelyn Deck of Crosby, Texas; three grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter.
Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Nunnelee Funeral Home in Sikeston. Graveside funeral service will be at noon Saturday at the Park Cemetery in Malden. The Rev. Charles E. Buck will officiate.
