ANNA, Ill. -- Mrs. Nina Irene Stokes, 91, of Anna died at 3:29 p.m. Friday, Feb, 20, 2004, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born Jan. 6, 1913, in Dongola, Ill., daughter of Herbert and Erie Dillow. She married Clyde M. Stokes Sr. Sept. 1, 1938, in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He preceded her in death March 2, 1989.
Stokes was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church near Dongola. She was a retired office manager of the Shawnee Development Council. Stokes was a member of the Anna Star Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and was a past worthy matron at the chapter.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Clyde M. and Patricia Stokes Jr. of Cape Girardeau; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronald R. and Martha Dillow of Jonesboro, Ill.; and a granddaughter, Christina Stokes.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold, and a sister, Iris, who both died in infancy.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Eastern Star services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at the Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, with Rev. Donald Poole officiating. Interment will be in the St. John's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
