Irene Altha Richardson, 93, of Cape Girardeau died peacefully in her sleep Friday, March 22, 2019, at Chateau Girardeau.

She was born Jan. 27, 1926, in Cape Girardeau to Raymond J. and Katherine Rogers Ford. She and Stanley Banks Richardson were married Nov. 26, 1945, at Jackson.

In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed playing cards with friends and family and was a regular at bingo games throughout Southeast Missouri for 40-plus years. She worked at International Shoe factory and Davis Electric in Cape Girardeau in the 1940s and '50s.

She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral since her baptism in 1926 and attended both Catholic and public schools in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include her husband, Stanley Banks Richardson of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Stanley Banks (Jeanne) Richardson Jr. of Saint Charles, Missouri, Kenneth Ray Richardson of Cape Girardeau and Charles Darren Richardson of Cape Girardeau and Los Angeles; two daughters, Constance Ann Wells of Fruitland and MaDonna Sue (Doug) Niemeier of Cape Girardeau; five granddaughters; three grandsons; three great-granddaughters; and four great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Ella McCormick Ford; a twin sister, Geraldine Wright; an older sister, Helen Hartmann; two older brothers, Raymond "Tiny" and John Ford; and a stepbrother, Bill Ford.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with parish prayers at 7:30 p.m., Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
