Irene Prost

PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Irene C. Prost, 99, of Perryville passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at her home.

She was born Oct. 27, 1923, in Milheim, Missouri, to Joseph I. and Anna C. Behrle Hennemann. Irene and Edward D. Prost were married May 3, 1947, at Assumption Church in Perryville.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. She was also a member of Daughters of Isabella, KC Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. She was a Eucharistic minister at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, and loved sewing and quilting.

Survivors include two sons, William J. (Bonnie) Prost of Perryville and Edward D. (Paula) Prost of Omaha, Nebraska; three daughters, Mary Susan (Nicholas) Tibbs of Fruitland, Laura Wahlers of Perryville and Jeanette (Allen) Buchheit of Cape Girardeau; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Zeno "Bing" Moonier; husband, Edward D. Prost Sr.; sons-in-law, Floyd Wahlers and Jim Newcomer; granddaughter, Heather Seabaugh; grandson, Scott Nuyt; two brothers, Henry Baer and Herbert Hennemann; and sister, Luella Roth.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 12, and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 13, at Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville. The rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. Monday, March 13, at the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 13, at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic, with the Rev. Joe Geders, C.M., officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville.
