ODIN, Ill. -- Irene Pierce, 91, formerly of Marion, Illinois, passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018, at Odin Healthcare Center. Irene was born Jan.25, 1927, in Pittsburg, Illinois, to Henry and Betty Patterson Edwards. She married the Rev. Frank Pierce in Pittsburg on July 20, 1946. He preceded her in death Dec. 27, 2011...

ODIN, Ill. -- Irene Pierce, 91, formerly of Marion, Illinois, passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018, at Odin Healthcare Center.

Irene was born Jan.25, 1927, in Pittsburg, Illinois, to Henry and Betty Patterson Edwards. She married the Rev. Frank Pierce in Pittsburg on July 20, 1946. He preceded her in death Dec. 27, 2011.

Irene loved to sing and play the piano and was an amazing cook. God was first in her life, and family was second. She served beside her husband in several local Methodist churches.

Irene is survived by her children, Howard L. and Denise Pierce of Cape Girardeau and Patricia Louise and Kevin Uchitjil of Odin; grandchildren, Kenneth and Stephanie Dillingham, Kristopher and Jennifer Dillingham, and Jay and Angela Pierce; great-grandchildren, Kaylen, Kyle, Rhett, Reece, Ashlyn, Audrey and Avary Dillingham and Emmett and Oliver Pierce; and great-great-grandchildren, Warren and Gwendolyn Haltom.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and all her brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Blue Funeral Home in Marion.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kenneth Dillingham and the Rev. Kristopher Dillingham officiating and eulogy by J. Michael Pierce.

Memorials may be made to Crab Orchard United Methodist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
