Irene Johnson, 73, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, March 4, 2012, at her home. She was born Oct. 13, 1938, in Utica, Ohio, to Steve and Grace Honaker Bartok. She and Richard Johnson were married March 15, 1959, in Millwood, Ohio. Irene was a custodian at Central High School 18 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses since 1968...

Irene Johnson, 73, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, March 4, 2012, at her home.

She was born Oct. 13, 1938, in Utica, Ohio, to Steve and Grace Honaker Bartok. She and Richard Johnson were married March 15, 1959, in Millwood, Ohio.

Irene was a custodian at Central High School 18 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses since 1968.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Richard D. Johnson of Cape Girardeau; a son, Rick D. Johnson (Kelly) of Grand Haven, Mich.; two daughters, Deborah Park (Jim) and Cynthia Swader (Rick) of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Fred Bartok of Danville, Ohio; three sisters, Barbara Methany of Springfield, Ohio, Margaret Houge of Columbus, Ohio, and Helen Beverley of Springfield, Ohio; six grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, and two great-grandchildren.

There is no visitation.

A committal service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In addition, all are invited to a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1150 S. Silver Springs Road. David Breeden will conduct both services.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be given to Richard Johnson or Deborah Park to assist with funeral expenses.
