JONESBORO, Ill. -- Irene Dillow, 83, of Dongola, Ill., died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born March 20, 1920, at Jonesboro, daughter of P.D. and Zona Dillow. She and Ellis Dillow were married Dec. 31, 1943, at Jackson. He preceded her in death...

JONESBORO, Ill. -- Irene Dillow, 83, of Dongola, Ill., died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 20, 1920, at Jonesboro, daughter of P.D. and Zona Dillow. She and Ellis Dillow were married Dec. 31, 1943, at Jackson. He preceded her in death.

Dillow graduated from Anna-Jonesboro High School in 1937 and received a bachelor's degree in education from Southern Illinois University. in 1941. She spent most of her teaching career at Dongola High School. She was a member and organist of the First Lutheran Church in Dongola.

Survivors include a son, Duane Dillow of Cheyenne, Wyo.; a daughter, Connie Pavlovich of Carbondale, Ill.; two sisters, Deloris Landeth and Genevieve Wiggs of Jonesboro; two brothers, Leon Dillow of Murphysboro, Ill., and George Dillow of Herrin, Ill.; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church in Dongola. Don Poole will officiate with burial at St. John's Cemetery near Dongola.
