Irene R. Beussink, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
She was born March 15, 1930, in Leopold, Mo., daughter of Henry John and Frances Helena Seiler Wubker. She and Ernest Henry Beussink were married July 1, 1950, at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold.
Mrs. Beussink was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, St. Mary's Council of Catholic Women and Cursillo. She was a den mother for Cub Scout Pack 1 and a Boy Scout and Girl Scout volunteer. She was also a member of Missouri Extension Homemakers Association and Women's Garden Club. In addition, she was a volunteer at the Cape Girardeau Senior Center.
She and her husband owned and operated Mid-America Outdoor Power Equipment Inc. many years. She worked in the family business 26 years.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest Henry Beussink of Cape Girardeau; five sons, Kenneth (Donna) Beussink and Glen (Paulette) Beussink of Cape Girardeau, Donald (Sheila) Beussink of Iowa City, Iowa, Edwin (Judy) Beussink of Milstadt, Ill., Duane (Kari) Beussink of Cape Girardeau; and a daughter, Elaine Martha (Tommy) Webb of Luling, Texas.
Also surviving is a brother, Elmer Wubker of Leopold; six sisters, Josephine Holweg of Leopold, Alena Fels of Cape Girardeau, Hilda Berghoff of Kelso, Mo., Barbara Seyer of Cape Girardeau, Adel Wubker of Leopold, Wilma Seabaugh of Millersville; 15 grandchildren, Brian and Kara, John Preston, Eric and Alison, Kendra and Matthew, Brett and Joseph, Ashley and Tracie, Drew, Bailey, Paige and Addison; and a great-grandchild, Haley.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edward Wubker.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7, followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Mary's Building on Faith Fund.
