DONGOLA, Ill. -- Irene Acuff, 86, of Dongola died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at Jonesboro Healthcare Center.
She was born June 18, 1913, in Dongola, daughter of William Arthur and Mary Arminda Lingle McIntosh. She and Lyndall Acuff were married Nov. 26, 1946. He died March 12, 1977.
Acuff was a cook at Village Cafe 16 years, and was the Dongola correspondent for the Gazette Democrat. She was a member of Mt. Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Ragsdale of West Vienna; a son, Ronnie Acuff of Dongola; a brother, Arthur McIntosh of Marion; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, two sisters, and three brothers.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola from 5-8 p.m. today, and Saturday until service time.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dare Aden officiating. Burial will be in American Legion Cemetery.
