JOPPA, Ill. -- Ira Lee "Red" Fritz Sr., 83, of Joppa Ill., formerly of Villa Ridge, died Monday, Nov. 4, 1991, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky. He was born July 28, 1908 in Union County, Ill. and was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nina Oneida Fritz, who died in 1970. JOPPA, Ill. -- Ira Lee "Red" Fritz Sr., 83, of Joppa Ill., formerly of Villa Ridge, died Monday, Nov. 4, 1991, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky.

He was born July 28, 1908 in Union County, Ill. and was a retired heavy equipment operator.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nina Oneida Fritz, who died in 1970. A sister and two brothers also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Reba Stephens Norwood Fritz of Joppa; four sons, Carl Fritz, Pulaski, Ira Lee Fritz Jr., Paducah, George Edward Fritz, Cairo, James Fritz, Galatin, Tenn.; four stepsons, Lyndell Norwood, Joppa, Vernon Lee Norwood, Roundknob, Ill., Warren Norwood, Antioch, Ill. George Edward, Herrin; 18 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge with the Rev. Gerald Bethards officiating. Burial will follow in the Cairo City Cemetery at Villa Ridge.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
