WHITEWATER -- Ira Lee Devore Jr., 78, of Whitewater, died Monday, March 18, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 10, 1917, at Whitewater, son of Ira Lee and Annie Eakins Devore Sr. He and Azalea Slinkard were married Dec. 21, 1940, at Benton.
Devore farmed all his life and also owned and operated Devore Feed Store and Grain Elevator about 30 years. After that he was a pipefitter. He was a member of Whitewater United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jack Devore of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Sharon Menz of Summersville; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Whitewater United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Virgil Bunch officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
