Iola Macke, 70, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born Nov. 28, 1932, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Russell and Ella Helwege Lewis. She and Thomas Edward Macke were married June 12, 1961, at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Macke was a 1950 graduate of Central High School. She had worked at the former Popp-Springer Insurance Agency, George Goodson Insurance Agency, and Stan Popp Life/Health and Casualty Agency, all in Cape Girardeau.
She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a Sunday School teacher many years, and a district officer of the former Walther League. She enjoyed tatting and knitting.
Loving survivors include her husband; a daughter, Joyce Macke of Cape Girardeau; and a brother, Gary Lewis of Sappington, Mo.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and after 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Church.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. The Rev. Douglas Breite will officiate. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
