Inez Statler, 95, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, at the Country Place Assisted Living Center in Scott City. She was born June 20, 1926, in Sedgewickville, Missouri, the daughter of Judes and Myrtle Caroline Statler Seabaugh. She and Donald J. Statler were married Dec. 21, 1946, in Sedgewickville. Inez Statler

Inez Statler, 95, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, at the Country Place Assisted Living Center in Scott City.

She was born June 20, 1926, in Sedgewickville, Missouri, the daughter of Judes and Myrtle Caroline Statler Seabaugh. She and Donald J. Statler were married Dec. 21, 1946, in Sedgewickville. He preceded her in death Aug. 27, 2007.

Inez was a 1943 graduate of Patton (Missouri) High School and attended Southeast Missouri University in Cape Girardeau. She taught three years at the Seabaugh Elementary School in Bollinger County. She was an active worker and volunteer for American Red Cross blood drives for 20 years, nine years as a Cub Scout leader and den mother, and a 4-H leader.

After she and Donald moved back to the area in 1970, they owned and operated a Western Auto Store in Cape Girardeau for five years. Inez was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson and a member of its United Methodist Women. She and Don also were former active members at Patton Methodist Church and St. Joseph Methodist Church in St. Louis. She joined the Cape Girardeau County, Kage Family and Community Extension Club in 1983.

Loving survivors include a three children and their spouses, Donna and Albert Jackson of St Louis, Duane and Rene' Statler of Jackson and Randy and Andrea Statler of Fort Pierce, Florida; daughter-in-law, Juanita (the late James Kevin) Statler Ziebell of Austin, Texas; nine grandchildren, Amy (Kelly) Statler, Kevin (Shelly) Jackson, Aaron (Keith) Statler, Nathan (Joanna) Sides, Ian Sides, Becky (Joel) Brey, Justin Statler and Melissa, Hanna Seib and Miranda (Cody) Cook; and 16 special and loved great-grandchildren.

In addition to Donald, her husband of 61 years, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, James Kevin and James Kent Statler, and three sisters, Leola Poston, Trula Kistner and Fay Linebarger.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating. Interment will follow in Sedgewickville Cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
