Jonathan Hart Johnson, M.D., 66, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Friday, September 15, 2023, at his home. He was born February 16, 1957, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Gerald H. Johnson and Joyce Ann Aldridge Johnson. Jonathan Hart Johnson, M.D., 66, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Friday, September 15, 2023, at his home.

He was born February 16, 1957, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Gerald H. Johnson and Joyce Ann Aldridge Johnson.

Jonathan was educated in the Cape Girardeau Public Schools where he participated in all sports, graduating from Central High School in 1975 as the salutatorian. He also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. After high school, he attended the University of Missouri at Columbia to study pre-med.

Dr. Johnson was a 1979 graduate of the University of Missouri and received his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1984. His postdoctoral training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology was at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee from 1984 to 1988. He worked as a Pathologist for 31 years, the last 24 years with hospitals in Herrin, Illinois and Carbondale, Illinois.

Jonathan is survived by two brothers, Joseph A. Johnson of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Jason L. Johnson and his wife Mary of St. Louis, Missouri; nephew, Alexander (Kelsey) Johnson; niece, Marissa Johnson; and a great-niece, Elyse Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dr. Johnson was a person who simply loved knowledge and learning. He had great enthusiasm for classic rock music and was an avid sports fan, both college and professional. He was dearly loved and respected by his family. Jon lived A Life of Integrity.

There will be no funeral or memorial service.
