Imogene Marie Varnum, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla.
She was born Oct. 13, 1922, in Cape Girardeau County, daughter of Harry and Mayme Niswonger Ikerman. She and Dewey Lee Varnum were married May 27, 1944, in Cape Girardeau. He died March 21, 1979.
Imogene was a Central High School graduate. She worked at Florsheim Shoe Co. 43 years. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Imogene loved to do crafts, especially working with stained glass, making dolls and making doll clothing.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis (Richard) Vandeven of Sapulpa, Okla.; two sisters, Eva Kelley of Cape Girardeau, Marilyn Slinkard of Hot Springs, N.C.; and a grandson, Brian Vandeven of O'Fallon, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Richard Ikerman; and a sister, Ovella Wilson.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Shawn Wasson officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
