CHAFFEE -- Funeral mass for Igenia Griffin of rural Chaffee will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee. The Rev. John Cantore will officiate, with burial to follow at the church cemetery.
Mrs. Griffin died Saturday night at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was 91.
She was born July 16, 1899 at New Hamburg to the late Charles and Anna Schoen Strack. On Sept. 2, 1919, she married Charles Griffin, who preceded her in death Jan. 28, 1987.
She also was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and two sisters.
She was a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church and the Daughters of St. Ambrose.
Survivors include two sons, Oscar Griffin and Paul Griffin, both of rural Chaffee; seven daughters, Cecilia Hindman of rural Chaffee, Genevieve Griffin of St. Louis, Helen Knudson of Donovan, Mary Stevens of Hazelwood, Agnes Urhan of Chaffee, Shirley Griffin of rural Chaffee and Pauline Asmus of Chaffee; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and three great, great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Parish prayers will be recited at 6:15 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
