POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Ida Joan Vandeven Rowland, 78, of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, at her home.
Ida was born Dec. 3, 1940, to Edward and Dorothy Elfrink Vandeven and was raised in Bloomfield, Missouri.
She raised her family in Poplar Bluff and was an active volunteer in the community. While raising her family, Ida was a very active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, serving on many boards and committees of the church. She was also active in Birthright. She was the director of the Child Concern Center and sat on its board for many years. Ida also spent many years volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
In 1986, after many years of baking in her home and with a desire to be a financial support to her children's college educations, she started her own bakery, The Rowland Stollen. Her hard work made this business a great success and asset to the community.
Ida's greatest joy was her family. They would like to give special thanks to Diane Vert for the many years of love and care she gave Ida.
Ida is survived by her children and their families: son, John (Theresa) Rowland, and their children, John Paul, David and Claudia; daughter, Susan (Jim) Moser, and their children, Trey and Sean; daughter, Beth Aguirre, and her children Alex (his daughter, Izzy) and Austin; son, David (Jerri Ann) Rowland, and their children, Ashley (Kyle) Aubuchon, Amber Maples, Annaleese Williams and Chloe; son, Steve (Monica) Rowland, and their children, Wyatt, Gage, Kennedy and Blaise; son, Rob (Tara) Rowland, and their children, Stephen, Lauren and Nik; and son, Kenny (Amy) Rowland, and their children, Jeff, Sophia and River. Ida is also survived by her brothers, Dale Vandeven and John (Trish) Vandeven, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenny Vandeven; sister, Kathleen Barr; and grandson, Robert Thomas Rowland.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 123 N. Eighth St., Poplar Bluff, where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at noon.
