DEXTER -- Funeral service for Ida Payne Lewis of Cassville will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter. The Rev. H. Worth will officiate, with burial in Essex Cemetery at Essex.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today.

Lewis, 82, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 1997, at South Berry County Hospital in Cassville.

She was born Feb. 12, 1915, in Cassville, daughter of James and Pearl Berry Fields. She first married Eli Payne Aug. 3, 1940. He died June 8, 1970. She later married John Lewis Feb. 4, 1979. He died Nov. 6, 1987.

Lewis was formerly of Essex and Bloomfield. She lived at Bland 10 years before moving to Cassville three months ago.

Survivors include two sons, Freddie Payne of Eureka, James Payne of Exeter; four daughters, Jewell Hinshaw of Arnold, Wilma Rayburn of Sikeston, Mary Payne and Bessie Purler of Exeter; a brother, Willis Fields of Tulsa, Okla.; three sisters, Susie Ford of Cassville, Ancil Stockton of Jenkins, Darlene Keeling of Green Forrest, Ark.; 25 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and several stepchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son and two brothers.
