ADVANCE, Mo. -- Hurshel B. Holmes, 72, of Advance died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at Jackson Manor in Jackson.
He was born Feb. 11, 1930, at Chaffee, Mo., son of Hurshel B. and Katie Estes Holmes. He and Jacqueline Dupuy were married Dec. 27, 1955.
Holmes had worked for the U.S. Postal Service and was a teacher. He was an X-ray technician in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Shelby Holmes of Advance; three daughters, Janice Cook of Sedgewickville, Mo., Cathy Bevins of Chula Vista, Calif., Renee Holmes of Chandler, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a sister.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at New Salem Baptist Church in Marble Hill, Mo. The Rev. Randy Poole will officiate. Private burial will be held later.
Liley Funeral Home at Marble Hill is in charge of arrangements.
