CAIRO, Ill. -- Hurley C. Bevill Jr., 82, of Cairo died Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.

He was born Sept. 23, 1915, in Cairo, son of Hurley and Emma Wiseman Bevill. His first wife, Gene, preceded him in death.

Bevill was a member of Charleston Country Club, International Union of Operating Engineers Local 318, and attended Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dixie; a son, Hurley "Buddy" Bevill of Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter, Janice Diamond of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, James Bevill of Winter Park, Fla.; and several grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Beechwood Cemetery in Mounds, with the Rev. Audry Thompson officiating.
