Hugh Andrew LeDure, 90, of Jackson died Monday, June 25, 2012, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 24, 1921, in Commerce, Mo., to August and Anna Martin LeDure.
Hugh graduated from Benton High School. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson, Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158, life member of DAV Chapter 16 and chaplain 13 years, volunteer at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau and a sponsor for AA several years.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 in the Pacific Theater, where he earned two bronze campaign stars.
He farmed and did construction work in the Cape Girardeau County area. He was a salesman for Electrolux several years and was a janitor at Immaculate Conception School and church, Cape Girardeau schools and Southwestern Bell. He retired from Trail of Tears State Park, where he worked in maintenance.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie (Elmer) Kieninger of Fruitland, Gail (Roy) Howard of Jackson; six grandchildren, Drew and fiancee Ashley Clingingsmith, Brock and Alicia Howard, Tracey (Jason) Towell, Andrea Kieninger, Kyle (Abby) Kieninger; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis and Ben; seven sisters, Celeste, Mary, Emma, Frieda, Bertha, Dora and Ella.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home, with parish prayers at 7 p.m.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson. Burial will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, with full military honors.
Memorials may be made to Crown Hospice, the Missouri Veterans Home or Immaculate Conception Church.
