Hugh R. Gatewood, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 2, 1909, at Sentinel, Okla., son of Charles and Roxie Reed Gatewood. He and Blanche E. Rendla were married Dec. 31, 1933, at Perry, Okla. She died May 5, 2000.
Gatewood was a chief operator at the Texas Eastern Pipeline Station No. 8 in Pollard, Ariz., for 27 years. He was a member of Mount Auburn Christian Church and was a former elder of the First Christian Church in Piggott, Ark. He was a former member of the Kingdombuilders Sunday school class.
Survivors include a son, Cecil Dean Gatewood of Ottawa, Ill.; two daughters, Darla Snider of Cape Girardeau and Wynema Gatewood of St. Augustine, Fla.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call from 4:30-7:30 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. The Rev. Wesley Wright will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
