Hubert Harrison Clayton, 87, of Jackson died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 28, 1920, at Wappapello, Mo., son of Charles Henry and Frances Elizabeth Sweet Clayton. He and Ruby Jewel Horn were married Dec. 22, 1939, at Perryville, Mo. She died April 30, 2005.
Clayton was a farmer, past member of the NRA and a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church near Sedgewickville, Mo.
Survivors include a son, Charles Clayton of O'Kean, Ark.; three daughters, Betty Nielson of Sedgewickville, Barbara Michelson of Millersville, Margaret Sides of Jackson; a half brother, James Denton of Marble Hill, Mo.; a half sister, Myrtle Keltie of Alabama; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, a half brother, three sisters, several stepbrothers and several stepsisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Patton, Mo.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Anthony Stewart and Howard Miller officiating. Burial will be in Crossroads Church Cemetery.
