JACKSON -- Mr. Hubert C. Bollinger, 86, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at his home. He was born Sept. 6, 1913, north of Sedgewickville, the son of the late Amon and Mary (Moore) Bollinger. He married the former Ruby Lukefahr on Nov. 24, 1936, at the Patton Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years.
He is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Lynn Bollinger of Imperial, Mo.; a daughter and son-in-law, June and Bob Fugate of Springfield, Ill.; and four grandsons, Robert L. Fugate of Memphis, Tenn., Scott Bollinger and his wife, Beth, of Arnold, Mo., Jeff Fugate and his wife, Kim, and daughter, Alyssa, of St. Peters, Mo., and Tim Bollinger of St. Louis, Mo. Mr. Bollinger was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
Mr. and Mrs. Bollinger moved to Jackson in 1978 after they retired as farmers in the Daisy community. They were always active in their church and in the community. Mr. Bollinger was a member/elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson. He was also an active member and teacher of the New Salem Methodist Church in Daisy before moving to Jackson. He was a member of numerous farm-related organizations and youth leadership development programs. He prided himself as an innovative farmer with an aggressive approach to new methods, procedures, equipment and application.
He was a past officer of Excelsior Lodge #441 AF & AM, Scottish Rite and York Rite Masons, Shriners, Order of the Eastern Star, White Shrine of Jerusalem, Past Grand Royal Patron (1978), Deputy Supreme Royal Patron (current) of the Order of the Amaranth and Hi 12 Club.
During his community service he participated in FHA, 4-H, Daisy and Oak Ridge School Boards and Cape County Highway Commission. For over 40 years he was a pianist for many of the fraternal organizations. He was a member of the Jackson High School Band and played with several community band s throughout the years. He was selected to be a member of the U.S. Navy Band but was unable to complete his service obligations due to medical reasons.
Friends may call at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson on Friday, Oct. 29, between 4 and 8 p.m. Masonic Services will be held at 7 p.m. followed by Amaranth Services. The Revs. Grant Gillard and Ronald Bollinger will officiate the funeral service on Saturday., Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. at McCombs. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. Serving as pallbearers are four grandsons, Scott and Tim Bollinger and Robert and Jeff Fugate; and two nephews, Lee Bollinger and Dean Suhr.
