TAMMS, Ill. -- Howard "Slick" Honey, 80, of Tamms died Saturday, Nov. 13, at Meridian Manor Nursing Home in Mounds, Ill. He was born June 28, 1919, at Diswood, Ill., son of Fred and Essie Blackstone Honey. He and Mildred Lingle were married on Dec. 24, 1938...

TAMMS, Ill. -- Howard "Slick" Honey, 80, of Tamms died Saturday, Nov. 13, at Meridian Manor Nursing Home in Mounds, Ill.

He was born June 28, 1919, at Diswood, Ill., son of Fred and Essie Blackstone Honey. He and Mildred Lingle were married on Dec. 24, 1938.

He was owner of Honey's Radiator Shop in Tamms 30 years before retiring. He had also worked as a rural letter carrier for 20 years on the Tamms route. He was also a farmer and worked as a mechanic at Gunnings Garage in Tamms. He was a member of the Baptist Church and had served on the St. John's Cemetery Board.

Survivors include two sons, Paul Dean Honey of Carterville and Danny Honey of Mounds; a daughter, Gail Palmer of South Elgin, Ill.; two brothers, Earl Honey of Tamms and Ray Honey of Bourbonnais, Ill.; five grandchildren; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Monday at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms.

Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Revs. Bill Fox and Larry Buckles will officiate, with interment in St. John's Cemetery.
