ORAN -- Honora Jane McCarty, 89, of Overland, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 1994, at Christian Northwest Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born July 23, 1905, in South Lebanon, Ohio, daughter of John Park and Lela Scott McCarty.
McCarty was a graduate of Oran High School and Southeast Missouri State University. A retired elementary teacher, she taught at Fornfelt from 1924-27, at Elvins from 1927-32, and at Ritenour School District from 1934-73.
She was a member of Marvin Park United Methodist Church in St. John's, National Education Association, Florence Rebekah Lodge 385 of Illmo, Kappa Kappa Iota education society, and was a past president of Ritenour Department Classroom Teachers.
Survivors include two sisters, Eudora Graviett of Oran and Olive Carr of Auxvasse.
She was preceded in death by four sisters.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Oran after 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jack Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park at Cape Girardeau.
